In this series we will hear that Guru Teg Bahadur ji preaches in the villages of Tek and Barna and warns the people against drugs like tobacco and promises to trust in an Akal Purakh

Walking from Dhamdhan Sahib , Guru Teg Bahadur ji, his family and the entire caravan of Sikh sangat reach the village of ‘Tek’ about 40 km away. In the old sources it is written as ‘Tek’ village. If we talk about history now, this tech village is known as Bahir village. You are visiting this Gurdwara Bahir Sahib. Guru Sahib Ji reaches Bahir Sahib. A carpenter named Bhai Malla lived here. Bhai Malla attended the service of Guru Sahib Ji. Guru Sahib made his stop here. Bhai Malla did a lot of service to Guru Sahib Ji. It was here that many sangats began to congregate due to Guru Sahib’s preaching. The sangat of this village came to Guru Sahib and requested that we are living in extreme poverty and suffering a lot. Please be kind to us. Guru Sahib Ji said that tobacco is used a lot on your side. Until you get rid of tobacco leprosy in your home, poverty will remain with you. Guru Sahib also told some families that if you quit smoking from today, the grace of Guru Nanak Sahib Ji will be upon you. The history written on the board here shows that a sadhu named Tiloka was also associated by Guru Sahib Ji with the teachings of Gurbani here.

Here is adorned Gurdwara Bahir Sahib which you are visiting. The Guru’s langar runs here 24 hours a day. Sarovar Sahib is also present. About 16 km from here comes the village of Barna. Guru Sahib goes to Barna village from Kaithal. There are also 2 Gurdwaras in Kaithal. The history of these 2 Gurdwaras will come in Shahidi Marg, which we will hear in the next series. When Guru Sahib Ji reaches the village of Barna, he asks the people here about a Guru Nanak Naam Leva Sikh. The villagers told  about one person. Guru Sahib asked him to bring him. The Sikh came and bowed at the feet of Guru Sahib. Guru Teg Bahadur ji told him that we wanted to stay here for a few days and preach Sikhism. Arrange for our accommodation. The Sikh said, “I am lucky, you go to my house.” He said that Patwaris have come in my fields to survey the land and I will go to them and return after measuring. Guru Sahib Ji said that there will be prayers but you serve here. That Sikh disobeyed Guru Sahib ji’s words and said that if I did not go to the fields then it would not be possible for the Patwari to follow someone and survey the land more, because the more the land is measured, the more tax the government has to pay. Guru Sahib Ji said that it doesn’t matter, you go and do the counting but you stand on one side and chant God’s name. Patwaris will continue to do their job.

When this Sikh left, he stood to one side. He had 200 bighas of land. Patwari prayed 2-3 times. It is also written in ancient history that the number of 200 bighas was reduced to 100 bighas and only 100 bighas were taxed. When the Sikh came and told this wonderful Guru Sahib, the Guru promised that if you trusted in Akal Purakh, you would not have to pay this tax either. So, Guru Sahib Ji stayed with him and promised the people that grace will remain on you. You stop using tobacco. If you use tobacco then the blessings of Guru Nanak Sahib will continue to flow from your home. This history is found written in books. Das’s team also reached Gurdwara Sahib of this village and here we also found another history that a mother also presented to Guru Sahib Ji a precious hand-woven dushala. Guru Sahib Ji connected the nearby sangats with Naam Bani. One thing to avoid is that if you quit using tobacco, Guru Nanak’s grace will remain on you.Poet Santokh Singh Ji, the author of ‘Suraj Prakash Granth’ has also written that Das himself came to this village and we preached. He also met the family who were associated with Guru Teg Bahadur ji. He also sternly reprimanded the families that you have forgotten the blessings of Guru Sahib. Poet Santokh Singh Ji has also written that there was a tamarind tree which he himself saw but when our team reached here our team did not get to see that tree. You visit this Gurdwara Patshahi IX village Barna. After this Guru Sahib goes to Thanesar, we will hear this in the next series No. 90.
