In Safar-E-Patshahi IX Series No. 64 we had heard that Guru Teg Bahadur Ji reached village Dhamdhan Sahib and took service from a Sikh himself
In this series we will hear that Guru Teg Bahadur Ji arrives at Dhamdhan Sahib and gives blessings to Bhai Mihan Ji
During the stay of Guru Gobind Singh at Dhamdhan Sahib, many Sikhs renounced self-interest and engaged in service. Guru Sahib rewarded the service rendered by the Sikhs here and blessed them with Naam Daan. This is where another story of history comes to light that a Sikh Bhai Daggu Ji asked Guru Teg Bahadur Ji who Guru Sahib Ji is that Sikh
Who is engaged in service day and night and sprinkles water day and night. Guru Sahib Ji said that he is a Sikh of the time of Guru Har Rai Sahib Ji. This is Bhai Ramdev Ji, son of Bhai Nand Lal Sohal. He used to scerve Ghee during the time of the seventh Guru, which is why he was also called Bhai Pheru ji. They were with us when we left Anandpur Sahib. They served water but there was a shortage of water at Dhamdhan Sahib and they provided water day and night for langars, Sikh baths and sprinkled water wherever there was dust. He did so much service that Guru Sahib Ji was happy and said, “Bhai Ramdev ji, you do so much service that it rains.” That is why the Sikhs started calling him Bhai Mihan Ji. When Guru Ji leaves Dhamdhan Sahib, Bhai Mihan Ji is appointed as Pracharak and is blessed with a bull, drum and Nishan Sahib that in whichever village you preach, you will not miss anything. .

One who serves with a true mind, Guru Sahib Ji blesses him. The Seventh Guru blessed it and said “My share is yours”. Guru Teg Bahadur ji had blessed him with Nishan Sahib, bull and drum so that whichever side the drum would sound, victory would be victory. Bhai Mihan Ji preached in the area of Bangar.
When Guru Gobind Singh Ji became Guru and when Guru Sahib Ji was sitting in his Darbar, he came to Guru Sahib Ji’s Darbar riding on a bull and playing drums. When the Sikhs asked Guru Sahib about this Sikh, Guru Gobind Singh ji got up, lovingly embraced him and sent him to Kabul and Kandahar to preach. Bhai Mihan Ji went to Kabul and Kandahar and started a langar. Guru Gobind Singh ji appointed him masand. While serving as masand, he used to spend whatever kar-offerings he collected on sangat and langar there. When some masands started using Maya for themselves, Guru Gobind Singh ji summoned all the masands to Anandpur Sahib. Some Sikhs doubted Bhai Mihan ji that even Mihan ji never reached Maya Anandpur Sahib. Guru Gobind Singh Ji along with Bhai Alam Singh Ji sent 5 Sikhs to grab Bhai Mihan Ji by the beard and bring him back. When the 5 Sikhs reached Kabul, Kandahar, they saw the service of Bhai Mihan Ji that he does not spend Maya on himself but on sangats and religious activities.
Seeing his Naam Simran and Bandagi, the Sikhs handed over to him the Hukamnama of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, in which it was written that Bhai Mihan Ji should be grabbed by the beard and brought to Anandpur Sahib.
The Sikhs, seeing his conduct, refused to hold his beard. Bhai Mihan Ji said in humility and devotion that this is the Hukam of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. If you don’t grab my beard and take it away, I’ll grab my beard and take it away. So, Bhai Mihan Ji grew his beard at Anandpur Sahib and appeared in the court of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. He came to the feet of Guru Gobind Singh Ji and requested that I have made a big mistake. You had appointed me as the masand and preacher of that area and I could not convey the Maya of Dasvandh to you. I kept applying all that Maya to the needy. Guru Gobind Singh ji was to be known. Guru Sahib lovingly hugged Bhai Mihan Ji and said that Bhai Mihan Ji, you do not deserve punishment but you deserve blessings. The Seventh Guru Sahib Ji bestowed grace on you and Guru Teg Bahadur Ji blessed you. Today we give you the title of Lord. At that time Guru Gobind Singh Ji gave him the title of Bhai Mihan Sahib Ji. Guru Sahib Ji said-
“Bhai Pheru, Teri sachi daarhi
Bhai Pheru, Teri sewa gaarhi
Bhai Pheru, Teri Karni saari
Bhai Pheru Jag Tulha bhaari
Bhai Pheru ko Satguru Balihari “
When the masands were burnt in the well, Guru Sahib blessed Bhai Pheru and told him to work, chant the name and share. From today on “part is yours, hand is also yours”. From today onwards you will not incur any loss in service. These are Guru’s loving Sikhs who serve with a sincere heart and Guru Sahib also blesses them. Guru Sahib Ji also punishes those who serve with hypocrisy in their mind. We will also learn about other Gurdwaras of Dhamdhan Sahib. This we will hear in the next series No. 66.
