Near Ropar, Guru Teg Bahadur sahib ji reaches Manpur via the villages of Dugri and Kotli. Gurdwara Sahib is situated on Manpur Road. Not much history is found here. It was here that Guru Teg Bahadur sahib ji arrived. One thing we must have noticed on arrival here was that there used to be a very large school here, where children were given kirtan training and Gurbani. But now everything is closed, only here is Gurdwara Sahib, where sangat come and visit and join Naam Bani. Guru Teg Bahadur sahib Ji walks from Manpur to the village of Gharua, 13 km away. A carpenter named Balram lived here. He begs Guru Sahib Ji that Guru Ji, I am very sad. Have mercy on me Tuberculosis does not leave my house. As a result, whatever is saved goes away in the whole disease. Not only me but also other people are suffering from this tuberculosis disease. This is tuberculosis, which we also call TB. We know that many steps have been taken by the government to eradicate TB and now TB is almost completely eradicated, but the disease is still in our homes. At that time Guru Ji made a lot of arrangements for these patients, he treated these patients. The work that the governments had to do, somewhere or other, was being done by Guru Sahib himself. The family had to live in isolation so that other people would not be affected by the disease.
So, Guru Sahib also made suitable arrangements for this carpenter. Being a source of water here, he was bathed in clean water and treated. Along with herbs, his treatment was in the name of God and in the company of the Guru, which strengthened the broken morale from within. He would eradicate the disease from his home while reading and treating Gurbani.
So, by staying here, Guru Sahib Ji became aware of this terrible disease. The sangat began to gather. It was here that Guru Sahib Ji asked for the establishment of a Dharamshala. Gurdwara Akalgarh Sahib is adorned here today. There is also a garden. You are visiting this Gurdwara Sahib. In the next series No. 42 we will hear the history of Anandpur Kalor.
