In this series we hear about the stopage of Guru Teg Bahadur Ji during the first Dharam Prachar Yatra

So, at the time of Morning, Guru Sahib was fully prepared to go on the journey. The Guru ji and all the sangat prayed together, the deg of karah prasad was distributed.

Chakk Nanaki’s sangat dispatched Guru Sahib’s party. According to Principal Satbir Singh, the first voyage began on 3 October 1665 AD. Guru Teg Bahadur ji made the first stop about 20 km from Chakk Nanaki. According to Dr. Sukhdial Singh ji, earlier the name of this place was Vasutiwala. It was known as Vasutiwala due to its high yield. Potters used to come here first. This is what the potters make their utensils in. Their houses were damaged due to rains or floods, which made them very worried. When Guru Ji made his first stop at this place, a request was made at the feet of Guru Sahib Ji by the sangat here that Guru Ji, please be kind to us, we are very saddened by this. The Guru Sahib gave them maya from his treasury and asked them to set up langar so that when there is damage due to floods, food is not cooked in the houses then maximum langar should be set up. He also encouraged the nearby sangat to do the same. So, the name of this Gurdwara Sahib is Manji Sahib Bharatgarh.

Guru Teg Bahadur Ji made the first stop at this place. The Guru Sahib walks from Bharatgarh to this place, known as Gurdwara Sadabarat. Now Guru Teg Bahadur Ji had come here. Earlier 5 wells were mentioned here. Now only one well Baoli Sahib exists. Here Guru Teg Bahadur Ji stops for a while and moves on.

Guru Sahib goes further towards Dugri. When we got a chance to go to Dugri, we were very happy to see beautiful forests and plants along the way. Following this route we reached Gurdwara Bohar Sahib Patshahi IX. There are still beautiful, 400-year-old trees. It is mentioned in the history that Guru Ji came here at the request of Ghari Dugri. When Guru Ji arrives here, the son of a Mai Bhanti was suffering from a disease. Mai Bhanti also brings her son to Guru Sahib Ji. So, Guru Ji bestowed grace on him, treated him and he started recovering. Guru Sahib Ji told the sangat that when you are in pain, all of you should share each other’s sorrows.

So, at least keep comforting the families who are sad. So, where there is a need for medicine, there is also a need for prayer. All of you together follow the principles of Sikhism. Serve the poor and needy. A langar should be arranged wherever there is a need. So, Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji asked for the establishment of a Dharamshala here and encouraged the treatment of the sick. Bhai Dugri gave 700 bighas of land in the name of Dharamsala. Mai Bhanti also transferred 60-70 bighas of land to Dharamshala.

Here even after Guru Sahib Ji, public welfare works are being done for the Sangat till date. Gurdwara Bohar Sahib Patshahi Ninth now stands here. After this Guru Ji reaches Manpur via Kotli. We will hear this later in Safar E Patshahi Series No. 42.
