In Safar-E-Patshahi IX Series No. 33, we made the readers hear that Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji is looking for the right place to build a new town
In this series we will hear that Guru Tegh Bahadur ji preaches 10 km further where some land is also donated by a Sikh to Guru Ghar
From Hakimpur, Guru Sahib comes and resides at this place. Guru Tegh Bahadur ji had already come here. Guru Sahib mostly lived in areas with ponds. These ponds were not as dirty as they are today. At that time the environment was very clean. If we go back 400 years from today, the source of water was in ponds, which we also call small ponds. These were natural ponds built on low ground. They were a great source of water. This water was drinkable and clean.
When Guru Tegh Bahadur ji reached here, some of the children came here,who were also called Pali who came to graze buffaloes. One of them asked Guru Sahib Ji to sit on a platform. There used to be a palm tree here. Now wherever we go the old relics or monuments of Guru Sahib Ji are not preserved by us today. The places we are seeing through video or the signs we are showing through video may not exist 400 years from now.
Guru Tegh Bahadur ji arrives here. Diwan continues every day. Sangat came from far and wide. Guru Sahib Ji listens to everyone’s sorrows here. It is learned that there is severe shortage of water in the nearby villages. Guru Sahib Ji wanted to do good to all. So, Guru Sahib listened to the pleas of the villagers. Guru Sahib, at the request of Mata Nanaki ji, dug 84 wells in nearby villages. The Maya of Dasvandh that came, Guru Sahib Ji used to spend it for public welfare works. 84 Drilling a well was a big deal. When a landlord or a villager got a well together, there was a huge cost. This provided potable water to the entire area. It was a great act of kindness. Guru Tegh Bahadur ji had dug a huge well in the name of Mata Gujar Kaur ji. This well still exists today.
Wanting to establish a town, a Sikh gave 700 acres ghuma of land to Guru Sahib. Ghuma means – acre. He requested Guru Sahib that Guru Sahib Ji, I have everything given by God. If this service of mine is acceptable for public welfare, then accept this service of mine. So, the Sikhs donated 700 acres of land to Guru Sahib for the establishment of the town. The town was named Guru ka Chakk. Guru Sahib urged the establishment of a town here and named the town Chakk Guru. Today, the town is called Chakk Guru. Where Guru Sahib was seated is Gurdwara Gurpalah Sahib. You are visiting this Gurdwara Sahib. Gurdwara Panj Tahli Sahib stands where Guru Tegh Bahadur ji tied the horse. Some of these excerpts from the Panj Tahlian Sahib still exist today which have been covered in glass by the local sangat. Out of these 1 tahli is still standing, the remaining 4 tahlis have fallen, which have been placed in the mirror by the sangat. So, Guru Ji wanted to see another place in view of the future to come. The Guru ji passes through the village of Katt. Gurdwara Sahib is also built in the village of Katt in memory of Guru Sahib.
