In Safar-E-Patshahi IX Series No. 27, we heard that Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji resides at Mata Haro Ji’s house in village Valle and preaches Gurmat there

In this series we will hear that Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji goes to preach in other villages where Gurdwaras are built in the memory of Guru Sahib Ji today

Guru Tegh Bahadur ji passes through the villages and reaches the village of Ghukewali. The village ‘Ghukewali’ is located on Ajnala Road. Kukrhanwali and Fatehgarh Churia are close to it . It is about 35 km from the village Valla. At the request of the sangat of Sahansare village, Guru Arjan  Dev ji also visited this place and starred the sangat here. Guru Tegh Bahadur ji also visited this place. Seeing Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, lots of sangat join Naam Bani. Guru Sahib was an environmentalist. He knew the finesse of time. The sangat here were abandoning Manmat and adopting Gurmat. Due to the preaching here, the sangat in the vicinity were also flocking to Gurmat. Now Guru Tegh Bahadur ji had reached here. Guru Sahib urged the assembled sangat and village chiefs to dig a well. A well was dug here in the presence of Guru Tegh Bahadur ji. This well is inside the village of Baoli Sahib. Even today there is a stone on this well on which it is written-

“Tehal Karai Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji”

Guru Sahib, accompanied by the chief Sikhs, planted a garden with his own hands. Where today Gurdwara Sahib is adorned as Guru ka Bagh. There are two Gurdwaras adorned on the banks of the Sarovar – one by Guru Arjan  Dev ji and the other by Guru Tegh Bahadur ji. Earlier this place was known as ‘Guru Ki Raurh’.

Later, Maharaja Ranjit Singh gave a large jagir to this Gurdwara Sahib. Since the advent of British rule, the British have produced mahants who can speak out against Gurmat and promote Christianity. These mahants gradually took possession of the gurdwaras. He also continued to do arbitrary and evil deeds. Then, along with Panja Sahib, all the gurdwaras which were in the possession of the mahants were brought under the control of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee. Gurdwra Sahib had come under the control of the Shiroma  Committee, but due to British influence, the land of Guru ka Bagh Gurdwara  Sahib was in the possession of the mahants.

Now on October 8, 1922, a great event takes place at this place. 5 Singhs come to Guru ka Bagh to get firewood for the Guru’s house but the local Mahant Sundar Das accuses these Singhs of theft and hands them over to the British government. Those 5 Singhs are sentenced to a fine of Rs. 50,000-50,000 and imprisoned for 6 months. When the Akaalis of the time came to know of this, they rallied together on 12 August 1922 to demand the release of our captured Sighs. After praying at the Akal Takht, the group peacefully marches towards Guru ka Bagh, but they too are caught and imprisoned. No Sikh was discouraged there. Every day a group of Sikhs is ready for Guru ka Bagh, peacefully proceeding towards Guru ka Bagh. There these Sikhs are beaten, their legs are broken, sent to jail or caught and thrown away. But the Sikhs did not let their zeal wane. Every day a group would go and they would be arrested again and locked up in jail. Similarly, every day a group would go and make arrests. These groups used to leave the Akal Takht for Guru ka Bagh to offer prayers and make arrests. No Sikh would turn back. In the end, the British government had to bow down in view of the unity of the Sikhs, the spirit of dying for each other and the Panthic power. These fronts are closed on 17 November 1922. The Khalsa wins and the land is taken from Mahant Sundar Das under Gurdwara Sahib. Singhs who were locked up in jails are released. About 5,600 Singhs were imprisoned, including 35 members of the Shiromani Committee. 839 Singhs were wounded in this front. This was a great victory of Guru ka Bagh Gurdwara Sahib. This Gurdwara Guru ka Bagh is in Chardhikala today. This is the place where Guru Tegh Bahadur ji visited and Guru Tegh Bahadur ji planted a garden. After this Guru Tegh Bahadur  ji goes to his native village. Which village was the native village of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, we will hear in Series No. 29.
