In Safar-E-Patshahi IX Series No. 1 we will mention the journey from the family of Guru Ram Das Ji to the birth of Guru Teg Bahadur Ji
Guru Ram Das ji was enthroned in 1534 AD. His parents had climbed in his childhood. As a child, Guru Sahib came to live with his grandmother in Baasrke. This is where Guru Sahib sells hummingbirds. Guru Amar Das ji’s grace falls on them. Guru Ram Das Ji comes to the Guru’s house and serves. By this service Guru Amar Das ji married his daughter Bibi Bhani to Guru Ram Das ji in 1552 AD. Three Sons were born. The eldest Prithi Chand Ji, the youngest Mahadev Ji and the youngest Guru Arjan Dev Ji. Guru Arjan dev ji is seated on the land of Goindval Sahib on 15 April 1563 AD. Guru Amar Das ji also blesses his grandson Guru Arjan Dev Ji by calling him ‘Dohita Bani Ka Bohitha’. When the time comes, the foundation of Chakk Ramdaspur is laid by the order of Guru Amar Das ji. In 1573, Guru Ram Das built a small pond at Guru ka Chakk before becoming Guru. A year later 1574 Guru Amar Das ji blesses Guru Ram Das ji with the Guruship and later in 1577, after the foundation of Chakk Ram Daspur, construction is started. The house of Guru Sahib is built on the place where Guru Ram Das ji used to reside and is called ‘Guru Ke Mahal’. These are the same Guru ka Mahal where Guru Teg Bahadur ji is to be born. After the death of Guru Amar Das ji, Guru Ram Das ji took his three sons – Prithi Chand Ji, Mahadev Ji and Guru Arjan Dev Ji permanently.They keep their abode at Guru ka Mahal. Guru Arjan dev ji was about 11 years old at the time. All the services are rendered by Guru Ram Das Ji while residing here. When the time comes, Guru Arjan Dev ji’s procession leaves from Guru Ke Mahal and Mata Ganga ji comes to this house after getting married. In 1581, Guru Arjan Dev ji was given the charge of the Guruship. Guru Ram Das Ji passed away at Goindwal Sahib.
While living in this house, Guru Arjan Dev ji also built a Darshani Deodhi. This Darshani Deodhi is near the first main entrance of Darbar Sahib. Today it is inside the Darshani Deodhi, Mai Seva Bazaar. Now we go to Darbar Sahib from the other way but the old way is to go to Guru ka Mahal, from Darshani Deodhi to Darbar Sahib. This is the route Guru Arjan dev ji used to visit Darbar Sahib. Nowadays, due to the crowded market, it is a sight to behold. Here is the seat of Guru Granth Sahib Ji has been done. This is called Gurdwara Darshani Deodhi. So for some time Guru Arjan Dev Ji had to face many difficulties along with his elder brother Prithi Chand Ji. Guru Sahib’s elder brother was jealous of them. That is why Guru Arjan sahib ji sends his family to Guru Ki Wadali. It is here that Guru Hargobind ji was seated in 1595 AD. After that Guru Arjan Dev Ji comes to this house with his family. some time later Guru Arjan Dev Ji, brought Guru hargobind ji to their ancestral home at Guru Ke Mahal. It is in this house that Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji grows up. So in the next series No. 2 we will talk about the children of Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji and the Parkash of Guru Teg Bahadur Ji.
