In this series we will hear that Guru Teg Bahadur Ji reaches the villages of Samaun and Kanakwal via Dhalewan, from where sangat come from far and wide to pay obeisance to Guru Sahib Ji
Guru Teg Bahadur ji walks from Dhalewan to the village of Samaun. The village of Samaun is about 8 km from Dhalewan. When Guru Teg Bahadur ji was on a preaching tour of the Malwa, he used to send news to his Sikhs asking for news. When some Sikhs reached Chakk Nanaki, some sangat from Kabul, Kandahar, Afghanistan reached Chakk Nanaki on horseback covering a distance of about 1000-1100 km. When he asked the Sikhs if they would like to visit Guru Ji, they told him that Guru Teg Bahadur ji was preaching in the villages of Malwa. We will visit Guru Teg Bahadur Ji. The sangat who reach Chakk Nanaki (Anandpur Sahib) by walking 1000-1100 km from Kabul Kandahar soaked in love, it was not too difficult for them to travel 1.5-2 km to Dhalewan village. So, sangat from Kabul to Kandahar reached village Dhalewan from Chakk Nanaki. When the residents of the town find out that the sangat is reaching here from so far away, the sangat of the village spread carpets for the sangat who came from far away. Very nice arrangements were made for the stay of the sangat. The Diwan began to be decorated. It was in the village of Samaun that they converted to Sikhism under the influence of the words and sayings of Guru Tegh Bahadur ji. Jiuna, the owner of a nearby farm, also adopted the teachings of Guru Teg Bahadur ji. Today, Gurdwara Sahib is adorned in the village.
The nearby sangat also make their life successful by coming here, joining the Guru’s house and reciting the Bani. The next village is Kanakwal from Samaun village. There is also a forest tree in the village of Kanakwal, with which the Guru ji tied his horse. Gurdwara Sahib is also adorned here. No matter how many places we have visited so far, the uniqueness of this place is that there is a huge school of religious education, Gurmat Sangeet, Gurbani Santhia and Katha Vichar. Many singhs also travel daily to nearby villages to preach and receive education from afar. There is excellent accommodation and langar. Those who want to get religious education can come to Kanakwal village and get religious education.
This Gurdwara Sahib is just outside the village. There is also a Sarovar Sahib inside the village. The name of this sarovar is Kapursar. We were also fortunate enough to visit this sarovar. Coming from a great distance, the sangat also come and bath in this sarovar. The sangat has a belief that there is a cure for many diseases. Akhand Paath is also held here every year by the villagers. Chhabil is also planted here every year. So, there are 2 places in village Kanakwal – one is outside Gurdwara Sahib, which you are visiting, where the school also runs. The second is the Sarovar Kapursar Sahib in the middle of the village.
So, in the next series we will visit the Sikh of Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji’s time who had fought in the wars of Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji ie Maidan-e-Jang. He had a wish in his mind. What was that wish? He had won battles by taking part in wars during the time of Sikh Guru Hargobind ji. Who was the Sikh whom Guru Teg Bahadur ji visited? This we will hear in the next series No. 80.
