In this series we will hear that Guru Teg Bahadur sahib Ji reached Nandpur Kalorh and preached there
Guru Tegh Bahadur ji walks from the village of Gharhua to Nandpur Kalorh. Here Guru Sahib Ji comes and resides in the lair of a Bibi(old woman). The residence of Guru Sahib Ji is arranged. At the time of Morning, there is Kirtan of Asa Di War. The Guru Sahib reinforces the teachings of Naam Bani to the Sangat. Sangat from nearby areas also starts coming here. Guru Sahib finds out about the condition of this village. The sangat of the village begged Guru Sahib Ji that Guru Ji, we have a lot of floods here. When it rains, the whole village is destroyed by the floods. The reason for this is that this village is in a very low place. So, we have to leave our homes in those days. Our crops are destroyed. The whole village is destroyed. Guru Ji, we are very sad about this. When the sangat gathered, the Guru sahib Ji told the sangat that Parupkaar was not just a matter of words.
“Mithia tan nahi paraupakara”
Meaning this body of yours is false if it does not come forward for any benevolence.
If all the sangat of the village come together, they can come together and build a dam where there is a flood. When the sangat finds out that this is a great charity then it is not the work of 1-2 people. If we work together, we can build dam around the village and this village can be saved from floods. Guru Sahib Ji had done this as a great favor. The Guru ji became the leader of the Sangat. Sangat also arrived with their tools. A huge dam was erected around the village by all the sangat, so that the village was never flooded. This village was also elevated above the rest of the villages. Today the Gurdwara Sahib is adorned here. If you ever visit Nandpur Kalorh, you will find this Gurdwara Sahib adorned on the high ground of the village.
So, Nandpur Kalorh and Nandpur Kalorh 2 are villages together at this place. Giani Ditt Singh Ji was a renowned scholar, poet, writer, around try founder of Khalsa Akhbar and founder of the Singh Sabha movement. He too grew up living in these villages. Giani Ditt Singh ji later became the great figure of the Sikh community, who set up the Singh Sabha movement. He brought the wind of preaching and uprooted the arrogance. He was Giani Ditt Singh Ji, in whose name Gurdwara Singh Sabha exists all over the world today. They were also residents of the same village.
