In this series we will hear that Guru Tegh Bahadur ji returns to Kiratpur Sahib from his first Dharam Prachar Yatra and the items of the Guruship are also handed over to Guru Teg Bahadur Ji
In 1644, Guru Teg Bahadur ji, following the orders of his father, Guru Hargobind sahib ji, went to Bakala with his mother and his wife, Mata Gujri ji. Now they have come to Kiratpur Sahib after a full 21 years from 1644 to 1665 AD.
After the demise of Guru Sahib, Guru Har Rai sahib ji had planted 52 gardens at Kiratpur Sahib. He built a zoo for livestock, birds and animals and also opened a dispensary for the people, where medicine was given to the people. Even a large hospital was built. Guru Har Rai Sahib ji succeeded Guru Har Krishan sahib ji after him. Guru Har Krishan Sahib Ji, at the age of 5year and 3months, took charge of the Gurtagaddi and did the work of Guru Sahibs. From here, Guru Sahib granted Raja Jai Singh’s request and reached Delhi via Panjokhra Sahib with his entire family and 2200 horsemen. While treating the patients in Delhi itself, he passed away on March 30, 1664 AD by uttering the last word ‘Baba Bakala’. Accompanied by Bhai Dargah Mall Ji Sikhs from Delhi, they reached Baba Bakale on August 11, 1664 AD.
So, after becoming Guru, Guru Teg Bahadur sahib ji started his first Dharam Prachar Yatra on 22 November 1664 AD from Baba Bakale. During this journey, Guru Sahib passes through various villages and towns and returns to Kiratpur Sahib. On the arrival of Guru Ji at Kiratpur Sahib, Guru Har Krishan Sahib Ji’s mother Krishan Kaur Ji (wife of Guru Har Rai Sahib Ji) and the whole family, along with Baba Suraj Mall Ji, come to pick up Guru Sahib Ji. So the sangat here, after Guru Har Rai Sahib and Guru Harkrishan Sahib, were now eager to see Guru Teg Bahadur, the ninth Jyot of Guru Nanak Sahib ji. As soon as they learned that Guru Teg Bahadur ji had arrived here with his entire family, the local sangat rushed to Kiratpur Sahib to pay their respects to Guru Teg Bahadur ji. The Diwan of Amrit Vela was decorated. So the items of Gurtagaddi were given by Guru Har Rai Sahib Ji to Guru Harkrishan Sahib Ji, those items were brought by Guru Harkrishan Sahib Ji’s mother Krishan Kaur Ji and placed before Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. With great respect to Guru Teg Bahadur sahib Ji, Mata Krishan Kaur Ji, mother of Guru Harkrishan Sahib Ji and the whole family – the throne of Guru Harkrishan Sahib Ji where Guru Sahib used to sit and preach to the sangat, Utensils, tents, rugs, carpets – all these properties which were given from one Guru Sahib to another Guru Sahibs were given along with the service so that these things were given for the public welfare of Guru Sahib Sangat. It is even mentioned in history that the 2200 horsemen who were with Guru Harkrishan Sahib Ji, who are associated with the Sangat and the Sikhs, are also recalled and brought to the service of Guru Teg Bahadur sahib Ji. Somewhere inside the masands of Baba Suraj Mall ji jealousy started. Guru Sahib Ji wanted no one’s mind and heart to be hurt because of us. So, I consulted with Mata Nanaki ji to buy a place nearby where there is no jealousy. So, at the request of Mata Nanaki ji, guru ji started looking around.
