Guru Teg Bahadur ji was sent to Ramdas to study with Baba Buddha ji. Baba Buddha Ji took his personal life experiences from Guru Nanak Sahib Ji.The history up to Guru Arjan Dev Ji and the institution of Gurbani was given to Guru Teg Bahadur Ji in a very good way. Along with Baba Buddha Ji, Bhai Gurdas Ji, also known as Ved Vyas, also taught Guru Sahib Ji. He seemed to be the nephew of Guru Amar Das ji and the uncle of Guru Arjan Dev ji. From 1601 to 1604, when the Adi Granth Sahib was compiled by Guru Arjan dev ji ,Bhai Gurdas Ji write the Adi Granth Sahib. In 1604 AD, Guru Granth Sahib Ji was first Published. Its first granthi was Baba Buddha ji. While Baba Buddha ji and Bhai Gurdas ji were carrying out their responsibilities, they came forward to educate Guru Teg Bahadur ji. Bhai Gurdas Ji also imparted knowledge of Brij language and other languages to Guru Teg Bahadur Ji in his childhood. Gatka classes for Guru Sahib were also conducted here under the supervision of Bhai Gurdas ji and Baba Buddha ji.
Guru Teg Bahadur Ji had heard from Bhai Gurdas Ji the history of Sikhs till the martyrdom of Guru Arjan Dev Ji. Under the supervision of Baba Buddha ji and Bhai Gurdas ji, Guru Teg Bahadur ji was now sent to the fort of Lohgarh, where Guru Hargobind sahib ji was imparting military and armor training. Bhai Jetha Ji was selected for training. He was one of the five Sikhs who accompanied Guru Arjan Dev ji, when he went to Lahore for martyrdom. He had seen Guru Arjan dev ji with his own eyes as he endured the pain on his body and sweetened his will. After the martyrdom of Guru Arjan Dev ji, Bhai Jetha ji narrated all these incidents to all the Sikh sangat. He was one of the closest Sikhs to Guru Hargobind sahib ji. Bhai Jetha ji was appointed commander in the military and armor training being imparted by Guru Hargobind sahib ji. Under the supervision of Bhai Jetha ji, the rest of the Sikhs and the Guru sons received the gift of armor. Bhai Jetha ji trained Guru Teg Bahadur ji in archery, horsemanship, swordsmanship and all kinds of weapons so that he could go to war. All this happened under the supervision of Bhai Jetha Ji. Bhai Jetha Putra was a great warrior. When Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji was imprisoned in the fort of Gwalior, he came to Jahangir’s house and came to frighten Jahangir. Guru Hargobind sahib ji was imprisoned in the fort of Gwalior and did not enjoy the food there. At that time Bhai Jetha Ji, Bhai Gurdas Ji and other Sikhs worked hard. The rations of the money earned through labor were bought and delivered to Guru Hargobind sahib ji. In this way Guru Teg Bahadur ji found the virtue of practicing religion along with arms education. String instrumentalists were trained. By the time of Guru Nanak Sahib ji, the Rabaab had arrived. By the time of Guru Amar Das ji and Guru Arjan Dev Ji, Siranda had arrived. The fiddle was recognized at the time of Guru Hargobind sahib ji. This Gurmat Sangeet Raag Vidya was also imparted to the rest of the Sikhs, in which Bhai Babak Ji became Rababi after Bhai Satta Ji and Balwand Ji. Bhai Babak Ji taught Guru Teg Bahadur Ji the test of Gurmat Raag Vidya. He taught 30 ragas and there Guru Tegh Bahadur ji also recited his raag ‘Jaijavanti’. Guru Teg Bahadur ji was very good at playing Mridang. Guru Sahib used to perform kirtan with Mridang. Along with other instruments, Guru Sahib was also very good at playing Mridang. If we talk about the Bani of Guru Teg Bahadur Ji, then his 59 Shabads and 57 Saloks – A total of 116 Shabads are recorded in Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Bhai Gurdas Ji, Baba Buddha Ji, Bhai Babak Ji and Bhai Jetha Ji had a big hand behind this education. If we look further at the life of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and read Sikh history, we find that Guru Sahib Ji cured many diseases. Guru Teg Bahadur ji also had a great knowledge of medicine and science. Guru Sahib also knew a lot about herbs. When Guru Arjan dev Ji opened a leper’s house at Tarn Taran and in Lahore. He also helped patients in times of famine in which Guru Teg Bahadur ji received Vedic education. This teaching was received by Guru Sahib Ji as well as his elder brother Baba Atal Ji. When Guru Teg Bahadur Ji was 7 years old, a great event happened in his life regarding Baba Atal Ji, we will hear this in Series No.6.
