राग टोडी महला ९ में श्री गुरु तेग बहादुर साहिब जी की वाणी

ੴ सतिगुरु प्रसादि ॥

टोडी महला ९

कहउ कहा अपनी अधमाई ॥

उरझिओ कनक कामनी के रस नह कीरति प्रभ गाई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

जग झूठे कउ साचु जानि कै ता सिउ रुच उपजाई ॥

दीन बंध सिमरिओ नही कबहू होत जु संगि सहाई ॥१॥

मगन रहिओ माइआ मै निस दिनि छुटी न मन की काई ॥

कहि नानक अब नाहि अनत गति बिनु हरि की सरनाई ॥२॥१॥३१॥

भावार्थ-

मैं अपनी तुच्छता/अधमता के सम्बंध में क्या कहूं? (मैं) सोने और स्त्री के रस/आनंद में ही फंसा रहा और प्रभु का यशोगान न किया।१। रहाउ । झूठे जगत को सच्चा जान कर, उस के प्रति रुचित हो गया। दीनों के सहायक (प्रभु) का कभी स्मरण नहीं किया, जो (लोक परलोक में) साथ रह कर सहायक होता है।१। दिन रात (मैं) माया में मग्न रहा हूं, (अतः) मन की मैल दूर नहीं हुई। नानक का कथन है कि अब हरि-शरण के बिना अन्य कोई चारा नहीं है। २।१।३१।

What shall I say about my own pettiness and fallen state? I remained entangled in the pleasures of wealth and lust, and did not sing the praises of the Divine. Taking the false world to be true, I became attached to it and never remembered the Lord, the support of the humble, who stands by as a helper in this world and the next. Day and night I remained absorbed in Maya, and thus the impurity of my mind was never cleansed. Nanak declares that now, apart from taking refuge in the Divine, there is no other way.
